Fortunate Timing

Still I walk with head held high

Pretending I don't wonder why

I stand on solid ground

While those I've known, poor souls all

Watch in fear as foundations fall

No shelter to be found

Am I such the blessed one

That no evil will touch my door

Or is there something less or more

'Tis something less, I'm sure

Yet here I stand full of proud aires

Defiant that nought troubles these hairs

Save the odd split end

And though around me a city's falling

I can close my ears to its calling

While I continue to pretend
