Moreover, I'll never understand

What it was that turned her hand

Or turned her head away from me

Not that I objected, though

I was relieved to see her go

For then I once more felt free

Her gaze did trap with icy bars

Like a midnight lacking stars

She shrouded me in darkest black

But now fortune's turned her head

Led her far away instead

No longer clinging to my back

I fear that someday she'll return

But hope I'm gone by then
